We've made it.  The official first day of summer arrives at 1:04am, ushering in the summer solstice.  That's a latin term that means "sun stopping".  Really.  I looked it up on the internet and you know the 'net never lies.  The solstice occurs when the sun is at its furthest point from the equator,  <Look at that...you just learned something from a dumb DJ who went to a state school!

I say we celebrate the beginning of the longest day of the summer by starting at happy hour Thursday afternoon at the newly renovated Hilton Garden Inn (formerly the Brookwood Inn) in Bushnells Basin.  I'll be on scene starting at 4p for a couple of summer beverages and will make sure to bring some tickets for summer fun at Seabreeze Park.  What says summer more than a fun day at Seabreeze?  All you have to do to win is show up at the Hilton Garden Inn.  It's easy to access on Route 96 in the Basin.  Coming from the city or west just take 490 to the Bushnells Basin exit, then a quick right onto 96 and we'll be on your right.  It's a little trickier coming from Canandaigua, Victor or the east as the bridge from 490 west is being replaced, so just hit 96 around Eastview Mall and head for the Basin.

With the passing of actor James Gandolfini at the young age of 51, let's learn to enjoy every precious moment in life because you never know when your time is up.  Even "Tony Soprano" found that out too early.  So I propose a toast to the fine actor at 5p today in the Basin.  Please join me and we'll raise a glass in his memory and to summer.
