Despicable Me 2Johnny Depp got spanked by a bunch of yellow minions of Steve Carell over the long holiday.  Despicable Me 2 took out The Lone Ranger!  "Despicable" set records while Tonto may be Depp's biggest bomb of his career.  Despicable Me 2 hauled in $142 million, the highest five-day debut of an animated film ever.  Meanwhile, The Lone Ranger made only about $49 million since opening Wed., a big drop from it's cost of $225 mil. to produce.  Here's the numbers at the box office over the holiday weekend:

1)  Despicable Me 2  $82.5 million

2) The Lone Ranger  $29.4 mil

3) The Heat (Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy)  $25 mil

4) Monsters University  $19.6 mil

5) World War Z (Brad Pitt)  $18.2 mil

By the way, I took in Seth Rogen's "This Is The End" Fri. night and it was a blast!  It has gross moments but is filled with 2 hours of hilarious entertainment as the stars (Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, Danny McBride, Rihanna, Channing Tatum and more) all play themselves in a unique flick that mocks Hollywood and keeps you on the edge of insanity.  If you need a good laugh to transition back into the work week, I highly recommend it!
