I've often written about my love and respect for the military. It comes from growing up with a father who served in the United States Marines Corps, an honorable group founded in 1775.  If the Marines didn't save my dad when he was shot in battle in the Pacific, obviously I would not be here to write this now, or to BS my way through the day on the radio everyday.  When you see a vet, please say a simple thank you.  And tell him or her about a terrific event coming up Sat. at the R. Thomas Flynn Center at MCC.  It's the Monroe Co. Veterans Benefits Fair, open to all former members of the military.  There are many benefits and programs available free of charge to veterans from our area.  Many of these heroes may not even be aware of the services that are out there for them, provided by Monroe Co.  The Fair runs 9a-4p Sat. at MCC.  God bless all who have served our country so honorably and God bless all of our troops.
