Saturday crazed maniacs will dive into Canandaigua Lake at noon!  I know the weather has really stepped it up but this is considered insane.  But, as they say, "it's for a great cause".  The Polar Plunge will be held at Ononda Park on W. Lake Rd. in Canandaigua to support Special Olympics and the Canandaigua Happiness House.  Gates and registration opens at 10am, and the Plunge goes down at noon.  I did this a couple of years ago and am still shivering from the thought. Good luck to the Constantino family and all my buds heading into the frozen pond!

If that sport (?) isn't enough for you, there is plenty of other action to take in this wknd:

The Amerks were home at Blue Cross Arena against the Lake Monsters (how appropriate) Fri. night prepping for the playoffs.

The Red Wings open the home season at Frontier Field Sat. with a perfect blue sky, sunshine and a first pitch at 1:05p.  Can't wait for a grilled pretzel (along the first base concourse) and cold brew.

The Knighthawks hit the field for pro lacrosse at Blue Cross Arena Sat. at 6:05p  They are smart enough to start the game so they don't compete against...

...The Syracuse Orange, who play Michigan in the NCAA Final Four with tip off around 8:49p Sat. night.  If they pull it out, it's off to the Championship game Mon. night around 9p.  Hoops action continues Sun. afternoon at the arena downtown as the Razorsharks rap up a great Rochester sports wknd. with Coach Chris Iversen of Marcus Whitman in charge.

And Don Draper continues his favorite sport of chasing beautiful women as he returns to AMC Sun. night at 9p on the 6th season premiere of Mad Men.

As the wknd. rolls out, I now quote former NY Jets football player Bart Scott who once yelled on national TV:  CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!  Enjoy and God bless our troops, especially over in South Korea.
