Our first official fall weekend arrives and there's plenty of choices to fill your time at....

..the First Niagara Fringe Festival.  The 10 day event wraps up downtown with humorist Dave Barry as the star attraction, one of over 350 shows that have lit up the East End and beyond this week. Check out the ultra hip Silent Disco, where the tunes are beamed directly to your own personal headset as you silently bop along! More details on the EVENTS page on our website.

..the Naples Grape Fest.  Grape pies, grape drinks, grapes on the vines....pretty much anything colored purple can be found at the south end of Canandaigua Lake.  With the perfect fall weather we've had this wknd., it's a great time for a roadtrip.  Fair warning: prepare for traffic tie-ups on route 21, the one main road from the north to lead you to Naples.

..Bristol Mountain.  No, there's no snow (yet), but the chairlifts are up and running, ready to lift you to the top of the mountain for a scenic skyride over the Bristol hills.  It's a great place to stop while enroute to Naples along route 64.  For a great bite or chilled drink, stop and see my bud David O. at Lock Stock & Barrel, just north of Bristol Mtn.

...the McQuaid Invitational.  This is the premiere running event in western NY as over 7800 runners from 245 high school teams will compete Sat. at Genesee Valley Park.  You'll see the top 3 ranked teams in NYS running alongside McQ (ranked 14th) and Fairport (15th in NYS) and all the other top local schools.

..college football games.  Brockport hosts Alfred Sat. at 6p in the first night game ever at BSU after the school completed a $2.5 million renovation of its stadium.  It's also homecoming at Brockport, as it is at Geneseo St. and many area high schools this wknd.  Cross town, St. John Fisher hosts Cortland in a big game at Growney Stadium Sat. at 4p.

..college hockey.  RIT's Lady Tigers lace up the skates Sat. at 4p at the Ritter Ice Arena vs. Clarkson in Div. I hockey.

..the movies, or on your couch.  Top entertainment picks for the wknd. include "Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2" in 3D, as Flint Lockwood and his animated chums return to Swallow Falls.  Or stay away from the theater and catch the series wrap up of "Breaking Bad" on AMC Sun. night, as former teacher turned drug lord Walter closes up 7 award-winning seasons in a 75 minute finale.  How does Skylar deal with Walter's many issues?  Sun. will answer that along with many other "Bad" questions.
