(Yahoo!) - L.A.'s very first F*** Yeah Festival took place as a free underground event way back in 2004, founded by a then-18-year-old indie fan with a dream named Sean Carlson. Nine years later, the festival is now a legit, Goldenvoice-promoted, two-day music marathon at Downtown Los Angeles's 20,000-capacity Historic State Park, and this year's FYF lineup is the most impressive yet.
The 10th annual FYF Fest, taking place August 24 and 25 in Los Angeles, will feature headlining performances from British shoegazers/eardrum-destroyers My Bloody Valentine (playing their first U.S. show since 2009) and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, along with sets by TV On The Radio, MGMT, Beach House, Devendra Banhart, the Breeders (performingLast Splash), Yo La Tengo, Solange, and many more.
Another FYF Fest highlight for fans of old-school punk rock will be the set by FLAG--aka Keith Morris, Chuck Dukowski, Dez Cadena, Bill Stevenson, and Stephen Egerton, playing the classic songs of Black Flag.
Other recommended 2013 FYF acts: electro-rockers !!! (Chk Chk Chk); experimental hip-hoppers Death Grips; Fiery Furnaces' Eleanor Friedberger; lo-fi R&B impresario How To Dress Well; Seattle-sludge legends the Melvins; nervy punk icon Jonathan Richman; daytime-disco playboys Poolside; psych-rock guru Roky Erickson; and one-man dream-pop band Washed Out.
