Jack Johnson is back with new music that marks a return to the comfortable laid-back vibe he's become known for. The indie folk-rocker announced Monday that his sixth studio album - From Here to Now to You - will be released on September 17th.
To go along with the big news, Johnson unveiled the disc's first single, a breezy acoustic track titled "I Got You." Johnson tells "Rolling Stone" the new material has a far different vibe compared to his last release, 2010's To the Sea. That album dealt with the death of his father, and Johnson admits he still can't listen to some of it. He says he was torn between feeling like a child to his dad and trying to be the person who knows everything for his kids. But now he just feels like a dad, which he says is a more comfortable place to be.
Jack Johnson is set to unveil more new music off From Here to Now to You during a series of invite-only gigs in New York and London. He's also putting together a full U.S. tour with dates expected to be announced soon. More information is available at JackJohnsonMusic.com.
