Rochester, NY -- A judge has sentenced a motorist to 3-9 years in prison for a wrong-way crash last November that left an area college student with permanent disabilities.

Investigators said Mario Carlenius was spotted headed south on Route 590 North near 490. Troopers chased him five miles without getting his attention before he collided head-on with a vehicle driven by Stanislay Dutchak, who suffered major brain injuries.

Tests later revealed that Carlenius had a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit. He pleaded guilty to Aggravated Vehicular Assault and Aggravated DWI.
