The Livingston County Sheriff's Office says a Hemlock man has been charged with evidence tampering after a woman was found dead behind her home.
Sheriff Thomas Dougherty says an investigation began Friday night when an out-of-state caller told Livingston County 911 he was unable to reach his mother. A deputy went to check her residence. He was unable to find the woman or her husband. That triggered a missing persons report.
Deputies found the woman's husband, 61-year-old Gary Flemke, at a bar in Dansville with the help of Dansville Police. The woman was found dead behind her residence, where the scene is still under investigation by deputies and New York State Police. The death is considered suspicious.
The Livingston County Coroner has not yet released confirmation of the victim's identity. Flemke has been charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence and is being held on $250,000 bail. Further charges are pending.
